Arguably the hottest, most anticipated launch monitor of 2023 is finally beginning to show up as back in stock and available for purchase again. After months of the new Rapsodo MLM2Pro being stuck in the much-expected cycle of being sold out and only available for small amounts of time here and there, it seems that production is ramping up and Rapsodo is getting this value-focused launch monitor back in ready for players in the next few weeks.
The first orders began shipping out in March after pre-orders began in early February. As expected, online stock of this device went pretty quickly, and many golfers have been waiting for Rapsodo to get more in stock across retailers so they can finally try it out. While you can’t get it right away, the time frame is shortening a bit, and at a few places, you can actually purchase your MLM2Pro and wait for delivery in 4-6 weeks from now.
Not without it’s issues
But the excitement around this new launch monitor doesn’t indicate that the MLM2Pro hasn’t been without it’s fair share of hiccups and problems thus far. To be fair, this is a new product from Rapsodo and a pretty big departure from the original MLM in many ways. With a radar-based sensor in addition to the high-speed camera setup, the MLM2Pro gives players a more accurate reading on not only ball speed and direction, but that all-important spin axis as well.
The MLM2Pro’s primary competition isn’t the $3000 Bushnell Launch Pro or the recently-launched Sky track+, but instead squares off with the Garmin Approach R10 that undercuts it in price by a full $100. But the extra price hike for the Rapsodo gives you some very interesting additions if you are willing to put up the cash and can find one in stock.
We have a unit on the way, but one thing I’m keenly anticipating right now is the ability for the included camera to not only assist in alignment, but also show me a slow-motion replay of my swing after I’ve hit the ball. As a training aid, that is a massive help, and having it available all the time is something I’m extremely excited for.
While I’ll wait for GSPro connectivity before I can even consider making this my go-to launch monitor for our simulator setup, I’m pretty excited to see what it is capable of once ours arrives. All launch monitors hit the ground with issues, and this new one from Rapsodo is no different. In the coming weeks as more units are in more player’s hands, Rapsodo will be able to hopefully squash many of the small issues being experienced by current owners. And if they do that and get GSPro support up and running, I think the MLM2Pro could be a massive game changer moving forward.
